It's summer, vacation time is here, and there's nothing like enjoying it at the beach! Because we know you love the sea and soaking up the sun, we want you to follow these tips and make the most of your break.

1. Pack everything you need
When traveling, comfort is paramount. Consider how many days you plan to stay at your destination and choose the right amount and type of clothing for your beach adventure. Shorts, sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and of course, a swimsuit are essential items for this trip. Even though it's summer, remember that some places can be incredibly hot during the day, but at night, the winds can be constant and make you feel quite cold. In this case, a light jacket is a good idea.

2. Beware of the sun
Many of us love to tan to get a little more color; and that's fine, but don't overdo it with sun exposure. You don't want to feel sore, become unrecognizable, or worse, get sick! Avoid sunbathing between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, as UV rays are strongest during these hours. Don't forget to pack sunscreen and apply it 20 to 30 minutes before sun exposure.

3. Stay hydrated
Drinking plenty of water will keep your body hydrated and healthy, helping you better withstand the high summer temperatures. If you're going on long walks along the beach or visiting nature trails, keep your water bottle handy.

4. Have fun practicing a sport
You don't get to surf, snorkel, take scuba diving lessons, or play a friendly game of volleyball on the beach every day. Give yourself the opportunity to share a sport you enjoy with your family, friends, or others—a sport that's fun for everyone.

5. Be careful around marine life
There are beautiful little fish, starfish, sea urchins, jellyfish, and hundreds of other species that you might encounter in the sea or on the beach. Avoid touching or disturbing them in any way to prevent stings or other problems; remember that you are the tourist and they are in their natural habitat.

6. Try to swim close to the shore
It's great that you want to show off your swimming skills, but do it at a safe distance from the shore. Currents and tides are very strong and can pull you out to sea. Try to swim with a partner, and if you have children, never lose sight of them; always make sure they wear a life jacket or flotation device.

7. Don't litter
There are designated areas for trash on the beach; if you don't find them, remember to bring a bag for packaging, cans, or other waste. Then dispose of it in the hotel's trash cans. This helps keep the beach clean and prevents others from getting hurt by litter.

8. Watch the sunsets
No two sunsets are alike, and you've surely seen many unforgettable ones from home or elsewhere. Those colors that appear as the sun sets and last only a few minutes. So, on your vacation, you'll definitely want to relax on the sand, sip something refreshing, and watch the sunset.

9. Enjoy the night
Most of the photos we see or experiences we have focus on enjoying the sea and the beach during the day. However, walking along the sand at night, seeing the moon's reflection on the dark sea, or hearing the waves crashing on the shore, is something truly unique. So, on your vacation, you can lie down and gaze at the stars, enjoying the breeze and tranquility your beach destination offers at night, with the added advantage of fewer tourists than during the day.

10. Disconnect
Above all, vacations are for resting and disconnecting from work or studies. Leave everything behind for a while and fully enjoy those days at the beach where everything else can wait. This will give you time to reflect and, why not, make important personal decisions. Now that you know how to enjoy the beach, we invite you to discover the best beaches in Cancun.
